But like any other series throughout the seasons, the story got bigger and bigger TVD has 171 Episode's, the show has introduced to us a lot of characters, and the show isn't like the books you might say the plot is a bit similar but the characters have a major change in their origin like in the book Elena has a sister, not a brother, and some opinions aren't as well-loved by the fans. 1. Elena Gilbert is annoying & selfish at times
unlike her doppelganger Katherine, It's no secret that Elena is the "good" girl of the Vampire Diaries world unlike the beginning of Caroline's Character, and for the most part, she is... but she has her flaws, too! Sometimes Elena can be inconsiderate of other people's feelings, and her dedication to Stefan can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. But I think you can argue that this is what makes her such a lovable character - she has flaws just like the rest of us, but she is always trying her best to be a better person for her loved ones like Bonnie and Jeremy.
2. Damon Salvatore is kinda a dick
Obviously, not everyone agrees on this, but a lot of fans find him to be a bit of a jerk. He seems to like to get what he wants by whatever means necessary, and his self-centered attitude has gotten him into trouble quite a few times throughout the series. Even Elena doesn't exactly like him all that much, and that's saying something!
From the outset of the show, Damon has been causing trouble for Elena and her friends. Once he's finally turned good at the end of season one, Elena realizes just how much of a dick he's been in the past. Thankfully the two of them manage to work things out and make peace. But in the end, we think it's safe to say that Damon might be a bit of a dick sometimes
3. Elena isn't the most likable character
This one gets complicated because there is a lot of debate about who the fans think is the most likable character in the series. Many say that Damon is their favorite character and Elena is the worst one. On the other hand, many fans feel the exact opposite and favor Elena over everyone else in the series. People who dislike Elena will often cite her selfishness and poor decision-making skills because she is so unlikeable. 4. The show was uneven in terms of quality
So in fairness to Vampire Diaries, I watched every episode of the show so I know what it's like when things start to get a bit crazy toward the end of the season. In many ways, the last season is a bit of a mess because there are so many different plotlines going on at once that they all start to run together after a while. It's not as good as the show at its best, but it is still pretty good nonetheless. There are a few moments of real greatness in the show's final season, but overall, I'd say that the series was fairly average on the whole unlike how the writer handled the end of The Originals with Main Character Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies) season four wasn't the greatest but the quality of the series was great.
5. Delena is the best couple on the show
Having watched the show from season 1 through to the season finale, I'd have to say without a doubt that Delena is the best couple on the show. The chemistry between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder is pretty amazing considering how long they've been dating in real life now. Their relationship has gone through a lot throughout the series, but I think the fact that they stuck it out until the end shows that they love each other. I also love the way Caroline interacts with Stefan (Stelena) sometimes too. All in all, I think there's really no contest when it comes to the best couples on The Vampire Diaries, and I'd say that Delena is one of them Tyler and Caroline weren't so much tho.
