Season 6 of Riverdale has officially cast actress Caroline Day as Heather, Cheryl Blossom's former love. Since its premiere on The CW in January 2017, Riverdale has been hugely popular with audiences and critics alike, with many praising the show for its wild and unpredictable lines. Season six is currently in the works, and while some members of his cast have suggested the end may be near, Riverdale will return for season seven later this year.
Riverdale is based on the characters of the popular Archie Comic series that spanned over eighty years and has become a staple in pop culture history. This dark, modern twist on the source material sees Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) navigating the dangerous atmosphere of a titular small town while in contact with criminals and monsters alike. Season 6 of Riverdale brought things to a whole new level by introducing superpowers to some of the core characters; The series also enjoyed a crossover with Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Deadline announces that Caroline Day (Billions) has been cast on Riverdale in the recurring role of Heather, a previously mentioned character who had a romance with Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) in their childhood. The character is a librarian residing in the neighboring town of Greendale and Cheryl reconnects, only to discover that Heather might have some answers about her budding power. While the role of Dai recurs, it has been described as "highly recurring" with plans for her to debut before the end of Season 6.
Whilst the character of Heather took until season 6 to make an appearance, the character has been mentioned as early as Riverdale season 2 back in 2018. Mentions of her past with Cheryl were the driving force for the strained relationship between Petsch's character and her overbearing mother, Penelope Blossom (Nathalie Boltt). Ever since, Riverdale fans have consistently laid out theories on how Heather could make her return to the show, even believing that she could cause some friction between Cheryl and ex-girlfriend Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan).
With the news of this season six of Riverdale showing, it appears that many questions previously asked by audiences about Cheryl's mysterious relationship with the past, all along with regards to today's stories, will be answered. Furthermore, since Heather now resides in Greendale and has some secret about Cheryl's powers, this begs the question: Is she likely to be involved with Sabrina Spellman and her witches' sap? The answers are finally on the way, so Riverdale fans won't have to discuss it any longer.
