The Last Kingdom Season 5: Seven Kings Must Die

Welcome back to Nation. The Last Kingdom returns for its fifth and final season on Netflix on March 9, 2022, but as we've learned, it won't quite be the end of Uhtred. Here's everything we know about The Last Kingdom Season 5 as of February 2022 and a little more about The Last Kingdom movie on the way as well.

The Last Kingdom is a Netflix original fantasy historical drama, based on the Saxon stories of author Bernard Cornwell. The series was once a co-production between British broadcaster BBC and Netflix, but since the third season, the series has been produced entirely by Netflix.

The Last Kingdom will return for a movie after season 5?

In late October 2021, Netflix announced that there will be a movie which means that Season 5 is not the last season we expected.

Filming is set to commence in early 2022 on the new movie with Alexander Dreymon returning to reprise his role. Filming is to take place in Hungary and the UK and will see Ed Bazalgette direct.

The exact story that will be covered in the movie has yet to be seen, with producer Nigel Marchant saying that season five "would wrap up the whole series" but added, "There was always another story we wanted to tell."

The new movie will be titled "SEVEN KINGS MUST DIE".
On February 9, 2022, Netflix confirmed that the fifth season of The Last Kingdom will be on Netflix globally on March 9, 2022.
