Legacies Should Introduce Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert's Daughter
Damon and Elena in The Vampire Diaries

At the end of The Vampire Diaries, Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert get together and embarked on life without the supernatural. Although they haven't appeared in any real scene since then, there have been some pretty big hints about what happened to the couple, with the Easter egg in The Originals teasing that Elena became a doctor. However, one of the biggest hints about the fate of Damon and Salvatore came when the Legacies named their daughter: Stefanie Salvatore.

Here's everything we know about Stefanie Salvatore and why she deserves to make her appearance on Legacies.

The Sly Introduction Of Stefanie Salvatore

Lizzie Saltzman In Alternate Universe

In Legacies Season 1 titled "There a World Where Your Dreams Come True", Lizzie Saltzman (Jenny Boyd) tried to change her current reality to get rid of Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) with the help of Ablah, who is a jinni, and went through three alternate dark dimensions. In the first, Josie (Kaylee Bryant) mentioned Damon Salvatore and Elena's children (plural). In the second dimension, Lizzie orders to steal Alaric's watch that was given to her by Stephanie Salvatore's father, Damon. In both scenarios, Lizzie was not at all surprised, which more or less confirmed that Damon and Elena have at least one child when the Legacies are set.

Stefanie Salvatore's Unique Connection To Legacies' Lore

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 finale
Damon and Elena Ending

In the Vampire Diaries finale, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) intends to die with Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev) to make sure she dies in Hell, thereby saving Mystic Falls and everyone who loved them from her sinister plots forever. However, it was a mortal Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) who sacrificed himself instead, taking Damon's place and injecting him with The Cure. This allowed Damon and Elena to live happily ever after. Without Damon and Stefan, there would be no Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, and Mystic Falls would not exist. Stephanie is related, even only in her name and parentage, to those integral parts of the legacy tradition, but her possible inclusion opens up plenty of possibilities for the universe to expand further.

In addition to Elena and Damon's possible lives after the events of The Vampire Diaries, Stephanie may have some unique powers. Although Elena and Damon are now human, the former is still the doppelganger that was previously a vampire. She also had an ancestor who was a traveling witch and had an immortality cure in her blood. Damon, for his part, is a former vampire with Cure in his blood. This complex combination of "genes" can make her immune to the powers of vampires, allowing her to rock the supernatural world of legacies in a big way and make Stephanie a potential game-changer in the series.
