Lucifer Season 6: Rory actress Wants a Spinoff Show

Brianna Hildebrand, who played Aurora "Rory" Decker-Morningstar on Lucifer's sixth season, says she's ready for a spinoff show that focuses on her character.

Lucifer Season 6: Rory actress Wants a Spinoff Show

Lucifer's Rory actress says she's interested in returning for spinoff. A fascinating blend of fantasy and police action, Lucifer focuses on the titular Tom Ellis the Devil, based on the DC Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg. The show follows Ellis' Lucifer Morningstar as he leaves Hell to begin his immortal life afresh in Los Angeles. Morningstar initially runs his own nightclub Lux, but soon finds himself working as an LAPD consultant alongside Detective (Lauren German) Chloe Decker, with whom he has developed a close relationship. Lucifer began airing on Fox in 2016 but was canceled on the network after three seasons. The show later switched to Netflix, where it ran for 3 more seasons until the final episodes dropped on September 10, 2021.

During the early seasons, Lucifer focused mostly on the single crimes that Chloe and Morningstar solved together. But over time, the show began to lean more into mythology, introducing all kinds of supernatural creatures. Recently, during the final sixth season, Lucifer introduced a character named Rory (Brianna Hildebrand), who is the daughter of Lucifer Morningstar and Chloe Decker from the future. The self-realizing Nephilim of her ability to travel through time, Rory descends to Earth to kill Lucifer for abandoning her. But she soon realized that she was the reason behind her father's disappearance. Realizing these things, Rory says goodbye to her parents and returns to her own schedule in harmony, but not without the promise that she will see them again soon.

Lucifer: The Meaning Behind Each Celestial's Name

Recently, in a conversation with The Wrap, Hildebrand was asked if she would be interested in reprising her role as Rory on the Lucifer spinoff show. The actress almost immediately responded in the affirmative, noting that she was "definitely" down to play the character again. Hildebrand admitted that while she had never thought of Rory's spinoff before, she definitely liked the idea and would like to continue to be a part of Lucifer's world. Read what she said below.

"Wow, I haven’t thought about that. That would be really fun, though. I would definitely be down to do that. I really enjoyed being Lucifer’s daughter (laughs). It was really fun."

Lucifer talks with Rory

Although Lucifer was at the top of Nielsen's streaming ratings, the series' continuation is not currently streaming. Lucifer season 7 sure didn't happen, in fact, the show wasn't even meant to get season 6, but thankfully Netflix stepped in and gave Lucifer another shot at life. Recently, core Luficer cast members were asked if they knew of any plans to continue the franchise with a potential movie or spin-off. However, they all said that they were not aware of any such development, and although they did not rule out the possibility, they acknowledged that it was too early to discuss Lucifer's return.

After 93 episodes, most of the original characters seem to have completed their path. So, they don't seem like the perfect candidates for a spin-off, should the show's showrunners eventually decide to go in that direction. However, Rory is a relatively new character, with a lot of potential for narrative exploration, thanks in large part to her ability to traverse different dimensions. The character's intricate character, intricate history, multifaceted superpowers, and intriguing mythology are all ready for a solo project, be it in the form of a movie or TV show. Plus, any summons to the Lucifer franchise wouldn't look outdated if they were made through the Rory spinoff, as the character's roots in the universe are still a bit of a mystery. In short, Rory's pop-up looks like the way to go if content creators are interested in continuing Lucifer, although they still have to wait at least a year before any plans can be rolled out.
